Picture a small carnival-like amusement park with fake LED trees, some statues for kids to climb on, playful architecture for children and you have iCity in Shah Alam, Malaysia. We ventured to iCity after dinner one evening just to get out of the house. We went with our Malaysian angel mom, Sophie. She had a blast watching the children have their own fun. She treated the children to some rides within the park and would have gone on watching their joyful faces all night if we let her.
Bright, bright lights of all different colors of trees decorate the pathways. Tall orange and green LED sunflowers decorated for fall season, even though it feels nothing like fall and only like summer at all times. A fountain of water choreographed to music entertained the children for a long time. The fountain lights, the music, and the sound of water are all quite relaxing. Rides for families are scattered throughout the area.
We ventured to another area of the park where rides for little patrons are located. There we found Fitness Jr. which looked something like an American Ninja Warrior practice course. Sophie, our angel here in Malaysia, wanted to treat the children to an activity. She bought them tickets for Fitness Jr. Tage was too short, so Jake went and found a smaller ride to take him on. When we arrived at Fitness Jr. they told Averi she was too tall.
What happened next would melt any parents’ heart. Averi was quite sad she would not be able to participate. Claire, being the tender hearted child she is started crying with Averi. They looked at each other with real sisterly love in their eyes and then they hugged. Tight squeeze hug while crying. I will never forget it and I’m sad Jake missed the moment. That moment is one of the reasons we are traveling as a family. The children really love and look out for one another. That true, raw emotion of sibling love continues to melt my heart when I think about it.
Claire ended up participating in the activity, Averi and I found a different activity she could do and would be happy with. We then cheered and encouraged Claire on her run through the rope course. She is brave and daring. Sophie was snapping pictures, encouraging her and just having a great time watching her. Sophie is such a sweet person; we are so grateful to have met her.
Sophie then got really excited about watching the children in their fun she wanted them to try everything. It was getting late, Averi was exhausted, Claire and Tage were running around loopy, but not Sophie. “The night is young!” she said. It is true, in Malaysia the party starts at 8pm and goes on till wee hours.
We finally made it home close to 11:00pm and were happy to have had such a fun night. iCity is fun for those young at heart and those who like to watch the young at heart.
