Week of July 10-16
While Mom’s away, the family will play! Jake and the kids spent time with Nana (Jake’s mom). They made the drive from Sacramento, CA to Salt Lake City, UT. Most of Jake’s family still resides there and we couldn’t leave without saying goodbye. Jake and the kids arrived on Wednesday evening, the 13th. Uneventful drive, which is what we like! If you remember, I was at Girl’s Camp during this week. Standing on top of a 140ft. cliff helping girls overcome their fears and teaching them to rappel down.
Averi, the eldest, had a birthday on the 15th! She had the whole thing planned: make her own cake and not open gifts from mom and dad until I arrived the next day. She did make her own cake. I had a bite and she did a great job. Grams Laurie took her and Claire for a pedicure that day as well. Gifts from family and a dinner of homemade chicken enchiladas rounded our her requests. Her birthday was made special.
Our container arrived with the last of our earthly possessions. Jake and some helpers unloaded it and it will be stored for safe keeping until we are ready to settle down.
Saturday the 16th was a big one for me. I said all my final goodbyes, cried a few tears, and embarked on another leg of the journey. I was exhausted from that week and it took me a couple of days to recover. (Does that mean I’m getting old?!) I also had an uneventful trip. When I got to the house, my family was with their Grandpa on the lake doing some tubing. They got back late and I was able to settle in to our lodging for the next week and a half.
It was thrilling when I saw my husband and children again! I missed them. Hugs all around that evening.
We really hope you enjoy our adventures. If you do, pass on the fun to a friend. We love the support.
